If you're surfacing more than 5 square metres of a front garden, it needs to be permeable or drain to a lawn or border, otherwise planning permission is required. Resin bound and gravel are naturally permeable, and block paving can be permeable with the right design. If you need a new dropped kerb to access the road, that has to be approved by the local highways authority, which is Devon County Council for most of our area, or Torbay Council in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. On site, we excavate to the correct depth, lay and compact a deep sub-base, install edging and drainage, then lay your chosen surface to a precise finish.
