Our Story
Planning for Home Renovations in Tiverton
J&J Contractors was founded by best mates Jay and Joshua, and with more than 25 years of combined experience, we're proud to bring our skills to Tiverton and its homes. Tiverton is a busy Mid Devon market town with a long history, from its medieval castle and the grand St Peter's Church to the Grand Western Canal, whose towpath is a favourite with walkers. The town's housing reflects that history, with older stone and brick homes near the centre and along the River Exe and River Lowman, Victorian terraces, and plenty of post-war and modern estates on the edges of town. Being inland and surrounded by hills and farmland, Tiverton sees plenty of rain and cold winters, which can take a toll on older properties. That's why homeowners here need landscaping and interior specialists who understand damp, insulation and weatherproofing as well as gardens and driveways. Solid-walled homes often need damp proofing, breathable plastering and internal wall insulation to stay warm and dry, while larger gardens and edge-of-town properties benefit from strong fencing, levelling and practical driveways. Whether you live near the town centre, close to Knightshayes or on one of Tiverton's newer estates, we're here to help you get the most from your home.
Services We Provide in Tiverton
Everything Your Property Needs: Plastering, Decorating & Landscaping
In Tiverton, we offer a complete range of outdoor and indoor services. For gardens and boundaries, we install featheredge fencing, custom fencing, metal fencing and home security fencing, ideal for larger plots and homes on the edge of town that back onto fields or footpaths. We design and lay natural stone and porcelain patios, and our landscaping services include garden levelling, new turf, decorative stone and sleeper beds, perfect for creating raised vegetable beds or levelling sloping gardens. We also build driveways in resin bound, block paving, gravel and concrete. Gravel and resin bound are popular choices for longer driveways, while block paving and concrete suit busy family homes. Inside, we provide plastering and skimming, painting and decorating, damp proofing, internal wall insulation and room-in-roof insulation. These are especially useful for Tiverton's older stone and cob properties, where cold, damp walls and draughty attic rooms are common. Outside, our external rendering service protects walls from Mid Devon's wet weather, with breathable lime render available for traditional buildings. Because our own team handles every part of the job, you can combine projects with a single point of contact, saving time and hassle from start to finish.
