Our Story
Planning for Home Renovations in Torquay
Founded by best mates Jay and Joshua, J&J Contractors brings more than 25 years of combined experience to homes across Torquay and the English Riviera. Torquay is one of Devon's best-known seaside destinations, with its palm-lined harbour and marina, the beaches of Meadfoot, Oddicombe and Babbacombe, the historic Torre Abbey and the picturesque thatched village of Cockington. The town's homes are as varied as its scenery, from grand Victorian villas in Wellswood and the Warberries to terraces in Ellacombe and Upton, character properties in St Marychurch and Babbacombe, and family homes in Chelston, Shiphay and Watcombe. Torquay is built on steep hills, so many gardens slope dramatically, and homes face salt air, strong winds and heavy rain from the sea. That's why Torquay homeowners need landscaping and interior specialists who know how to make the most of hillside plots and protect properties from the coastal climate. Levelling, terracing and sleeper beds can transform sloping gardens, while weatherproof render, quality fencing and breathable decorating keep older homes in great condition. Whether you're near the harbour, up in the hills or close to the beaches, we're proud to help Torquay residents look after their homes.
Services We Provide in Torquay
Everything Your Property Needs: Plastering, Decorating & Landscaping
In Torquay, we offer a full range of outdoor and indoor services, all carried out by our own team. Our fencing services include featheredge fencing built to withstand coastal winds, custom fencing and screens for sheltered seating areas, metal fencing and railings that suit Torquay's Victorian villas, and home security fencing. We design and lay natural stone and porcelain patios, with porcelain a popular low-maintenance choice for coastal gardens. Our landscaping services include garden levelling, new turf, decorative stone and sleeper beds, ideal for turning steep Torquay gardens into usable terraces with views. We also install resin bound, block paving, gravel and concrete driveways, with brushed concrete and well-drained surfaces that work well on sloping drives, and off-road parking that helps on busy streets. Inside, we provide plastering and skimming, painting and decorating, damp proofing, internal wall insulation and room-in-roof insulation, helping Torquay's older homes stay warm, dry and beautifully finished. Outside, our external rendering and painting services protect walls from wind-driven rain and salt spray. With one team handling every trade, you can combine projects easily, saving time and hassle while dealing with the same reliable faces from start to finish.
