Our Story
Planning for Home Renovations in Crediton
Founded by best mates Jay and Joshua, J&J Contractors brings more than 25 years of combined experience to homes in Crediton and the Creedy Valley. Crediton is a historic Mid Devon market town, known as the birthplace of St Boniface and home to the impressive Holy Cross Church, with a bustling High Street and a strong sense of community. The town's homes reflect its long history, with traditional stone and cob cottages, Georgian and Victorian townhouses along the High Street and East Street, and newer family homes and estates on the edges of town. Many older properties have solid stone or cob walls, which need breathable materials and careful treatment to stay dry and warm. Crediton's inland position and surrounding hills also mean plenty of rain, so damp proofing, insulation and good drainage are especially important. That's why Crediton homeowners need landscaping and interior specialists who understand traditional buildings as well as modern homes. From restoring cob cottage interiors with lime plaster to building new driveways and fencing for family homes, we bring the right skills to every project. Wherever you live in Crediton, from the historic town centre to the newer estates, we're proud to serve your community.
Services We Provide in Crediton
Everything Your Property Needs: Plastering, Decorating & Landscaping
In Crediton, we offer a full range of outdoor and indoor services, all carried out by our own team. Our fencing services include featheredge fencing for privacy, custom fencing designed around traditional and awkward plots, metal fencing and railings for period frontages, and home security fencing for homes backing onto fields and footpaths. We design and lay natural stone patios that complement Crediton's stone cottages, as well as low-maintenance porcelain patios for modern homes. Our landscaping services include garden levelling, new turf, decorative stone and sleeper beds, ideal for raised vegetable beds and larger gardens. We also install resin bound, block paving, gravel and concrete driveways, with gravel and resin bound popular choices for longer driveways and traditional properties. Inside, we provide plastering and skimming, including breathable lime plaster for older homes, as well as painting and decorating, damp proofing, internal wall insulation and room-in-roof insulation. These services are especially valuable for Crediton's cob and stone cottages, where damp, cold walls and draughty attic rooms are common. Outside, our external rendering service includes breathable lime render for traditional buildings. With one team handling every trade, you can combine projects and deal with the same faces throughout.
