Skimming in Exeter and surrounding areas.
Refresh suitable walls and ceilings with a smooth finishing coat, prepared with care by Josh and the team.
Skimming
What is skimming?
Skimming involves applying a thin finishing coat of plaster over a suitable surface to create a smooth finish for decorating. It can refresh existing plaster or finish newly installed plasterboard on walls and ceilings. For wall skimming in Exeter, Joshua and Son Plastering assesses the surface and prepares it before applying the finish. With over 10 years’ experience, Josh and the team offer ceiling skimming and plasterboard skimming for customers who want their rooms to feel fresh, tidy and ready for the next stage.
Skimming
Do I need skimming? Top signs to look out for
You might consider reskimming walls when existing plaster is sound but looks uneven, tired or marked by previous decoration. Room skimming can also help bring suitable surfaces together during a refurbishment, giving walls and ceilings a more consistent appearance. However, loose plaster, substantial damage or underlying moisture problems need attention first. Whether you need skimming services in Exmouth or wall skimming in Newton Abbot, Josh can assess whether a finishing coat is enough or additional repairs are needed beforehand.
Skimming
What is required for skimming?
Successful plaster skimming starts with a stable surface and the right preparation. The team checks the existing finish, discusses any repairs and agrees how furniture, floors and access will be managed. Once the work is complete, the plaster needs to dry before decorating, following advice suited to the materials and conditions. For skimming quotes in Exeter and surrounding towns, Joshua and Son Plastering offers free on-site assessments. The team is fully insured, protects working areas and removes the waste created by the job.
