Lime Plastering & Lime Rendering
What is lime plastering and lime rendering?
Lime plastering and lime rendering use lime-based materials to finish internal and external surfaces. These materials can be appropriate for traditional buildings where compatibility with existing masonry and finishes matters. Internal lime plastering creates a wall or ceiling finish, while external lime rendering covers outside walls. For a lime plasterer in Exeter, Joshua and Son Plastering offers an assessment of the existing property and proposed work. Josh and the team use traditional techniques, with material selection and preparation guided by the building’s needs.

Do I need lime plastering and lime rendering? Top signs to look out for
Lime plaster repairs may be needed when an existing traditional finish becomes damaged or requires attention during a refurbishment. Lime render repairs can address suitable local areas, while more extensive deterioration may need a broader approach. Older properties should not automatically receive the same materials used elsewhere without checking compatibility. Whether you are considering lime plastering in Crediton or lime rendering in Sidmouth, the condition of the building and existing finishes should guide the work. Underlying moisture issues also need understanding.

What is required for lime plastering and lime rendering?
Traditional lime plastering requires compatible materials, suitable preparation and attention to curing conditions. Listed properties may also require checks on permissions before alterations begin. Drying, curing and decorating advice should suit the particular lime materials used.
