On site, we excavate to the correct depth and lay a deep, well-compacted sub-base, then set up timber formwork to shape the slab and create the right falls so water runs away from your home. The concrete is laid to the right thickness for the vehicles it will carry, with steel reinforcement mesh to add strength. Movement joints are formed at regular intervals so the slab can expand and contract slightly with temperature changes without cracking. We plan the pour around the weather, as concrete shouldn't be laid in heavy rain or freezing temperatures, then finish the surface by brushing, patterning or exposing the aggregate as agreed. The concrete is protected while it cures, and you can usually walk on it after a day or two and drive on it after about a week.
